One popular excuse for avoiding a workout is because there simply “isn’t enough time”. What if we told you there’s a workout that can be completed in 20 minutes that provides the same benefits as a longer one? HIIT is a busy bee’s workout, allowing you to stay in shape without disrupting your calendar.
Our HIIT workouts are designed to improve cardiovascular health and burn calories by combining weighted and bodyweight exercises performed in short, intense bursts, followed by brief rest intervals. These sessions are structured to be both time-efficient and challenging.
What is HIIT?
HIIT stands for High-Intensity Interval Training. It’s a form of exercise that features short bursts of high-intensity exercise combined with periods of low-intensity activity. Similar to circuit training, HIIT provides a range of movements, ensuring your full attention.
The three common models of HIIT are Tabata, 30:30, and30-20-10. While Tabata calls for 20 seconds of work and 10 seconds of recovery,30:30 calls for 30 seconds of high-intensity exercise followed by 30 seconds of low intensity exercise. The last model, 30-20-10 involves 60 second increments with varying intensity throughout. Although each model varies, the most important thing is to work as hard as possible during the work period, and rest during the off one.
Benefits of HIIT
According to Peter Mccall, certified strength and conditioning specialist, benefits of HIIT include, “burning fat, increasing muscle definition, reducing the risk of developing a chronic health condition, or simply burning off some stress.” HIIT can also help the cardiovascular system. The intensity of these workouts assists the heart in moving blood more efficiently around the body, reducing the risk of disease.
Along with internal bodily improvements, this training causes muscles to burn calories even after the workout. HIIT increases both muscle size and definition, and makes it easier to maintain a healthy body weight. HIIT is versatile. It can be performed on any type of exercise equipment from cardio machines to kettlebells, and it will keep you in shape in spite of a short time frame.
